Focus Group
The District of Columbia’s Department of Small and Local Business Development (DSLBD) is the District’s oversight agency tasked with supporting the development, economic growth, and retention of DC based Businesses. DSLBD also promotes economic development throughout DC’s Commercial Districts.
Interested in learning about DC Construction Services & Construction-Related Suppliers experiences in doing business or attempting to do business with DC government. In particular, DSLBD wanted to hear about the challenges and obstacles experienced in accessing procurement and contracting opportunities in the District. The Participant’s feedback and comments were utilized to assist DSLBD in improving the ability of construction service providers to equitably compete in the DC procurement process.
To assist them with the monitoring and implementation of these focus groups, DSLBD engaged CRP, Inc. a DC based Management consulting firm with over thirty (30) years of experience in their field.
L. S. Caldwell & Associates, Inc. (LSC) was retained by CRP, Inc. to ensure the successful planning and coordination of focus groups targeting Minority-and Women-owned Businesses.
LSC was tasked with:
- Review of survey instrument and focus group protocol documents
- Assistance with recruitment of focus group participants
- Assistance with development of a strategy for focus group incentives
- Facilitation of focus groups
- Review of and comments on draft reports including
- Focus Group
- Part I: Minority-and Women-owned Business Assessment
- Part II: Minority-and Women-owned Prime Contractors
- Part III: Triennial Review of CBE Sheltered Market Program
- Participation, as necessary in meetings with CRP, Inc.
